Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Bench, a sole proprietorship based in Houston, Texas (“Bench,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use bench.services and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.

1Information we collect

  • Account information. Your name, email address, and the role you sign up as (customer or technician).
  • Repair requests. Details you provide about a device or repair, your chosen contact method, shipping or pickup address where relevant, and any photos you upload.
  • Shop profiles. If you are a technician: your shop name, description, location, hours, services, prices, and gallery images.
  • Messages and reviews. Messages you exchange about an order, and reviews or other content you post.
  • Payment information. Payments are handled by Stripe. We receive transaction metadata (amount, status, the related order) but we do not collect or store full card numbers.
  • Technical data. Basic request information recorded in standard server logs, such as browser/user-agent and IP address, used for security and rate limiting. We do not run third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
  • Usage analytics. We keep our own privacy-conscious record of page visits to understand how the site is used: the page viewed, the referring website, a coarse country/region, and device type. This is first-party and cookieless. We do not store your IP address with it; visit counts use a daily-rotating, non-reversible identifier, and we use no third-party advertising or tracking networks.
  • Local storage. We store small values in your browser, such as login session tokens, display preferences, and a randomly generated device ID and initials used only for the homepage game leaderboard.

2How we use information

  • To operate the Service: create accounts, show listings, route repair requests to Shops, and enable messaging and payments.
  • To send transactional and notification emails (for example, order updates and messages), subject to your notification settings.
  • To keep the Service safe: prevent fraud and abuse, enforce rate limits, and investigate violations of our Terms.
  • To maintain, debug, and improve the Service.
  • To comply with law and respond to lawful requests.

3How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

  • With the Shop you contact. When you submit a repair request or message, the Shop receives the information needed to respond and perform the work (such as your name, contact details, device details, and any photos).
  • With service providers who process data on our behalf, including Supabase (database, authentication, file storage), Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), and Vercel (hosting). We also use Google to display business ratings and embed social posts (X/Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube) when a Shop features one.
  • For legal and safety reasons, if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Bench, our users, or the public.
  • In a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition.

4Payments

Card payments are processed by Stripe, and your payment details are handled under Stripe’s Privacy Policy. We receive only the transaction information described above.

5Cookies and local storage

We use browser local storage and similar technologies for essential functions: keeping you signed in, remembering preferences, and running the homepage game leaderboard. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

6Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, and meet legal and accounting obligations. When you delete your account, we remove or detach your personal data as described below, though some records may be retained where required (for example, transaction records for tax and dispute purposes).

7Your choices and rights

You can review and update your account information at any time, and manage email notifications in your settings. You can delete your account from your account settings, which removes or detaches your personal data; technicians with open orders must complete or archive them first.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, or to object to certain processing (for example, under the California Consumer Privacy Act or, for EU/UK residents, the GDPR). To exercise these rights, contact us at support@bench.services.

8Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including access controls on our database and encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Policy.
